The short version: this website does not track you, the Boop app does not send your drawings or watch what you do, and when you pay, the payment is handled by Stripe, not by me. Here is the whole of it.
This website
boopanimator.com uses no cookies, no analytics and no trackers, and loads nothing from anyone else. It is served by Cloudflare, which handles the ordinary technical details of each visit - such as your IP address - to deliver the pages and keep the site safe.
When you subscribe
Payments are handled by Stripe and its Link service, which sells Boop on my behalf and looks after the sales tax. You type your payment details into Stripe's own checkout page, so they go straight to Stripe. I receive your email address, your country and whether your payments went through - never your card details.
Your licence
Licence keys are managed by Keygen, which keeps your key with the email address you subscribed with. Your key is emailed to you by Resend. When Boop checks your subscription, it sends your licence key and an identifier for your computer - nothing else. The identifier is a scrambled form of Windows' own ID for your computer, not the ID itself.
The Boop app
Your drawings stay on your computer. Boop does not send your drawings, what you do in it, or any usage statistics anywhere. The only time it goes online on its own is to check your subscription; the two features below go online only when you use them.
Boops - animating together
When you host or join a Boops session, the drawing and every change to it pass between the computers in the session through Boop's relay, which runs on Cloudflare. They are encrypted end to end with the session's join code, so the relay can pass them on but cannot read them, and nothing is kept once the session ends.
If you send feedback
What you write in Boop's Feedback window, your Boop version and whether you are on the trial or subscribed are sent to me, through Cloudflare, into a private Discord channel only I can read. Your drawings, your email address and your licence key are never sent.
If you ask for a refund
The licence key you enter on the refund page is used to find your payment with Keygen and Stripe, and to check whether that card or email address has had a refund in the past year. Nothing else is kept.
If you email me
Mail to [email protected] is passed on to my inbox by Cloudflare. I keep your email and my reply, to help you and to keep track of what people need.
Who sees your information, and how
- Stripe - everything you enter at checkout, directly, on its own page. It uses it to take your payments and meet the law, including tax.
- Keygen - your email address, passed on automatically when you subscribe, so it can make your licence key; and your licence key and computer identifier when Boop checks your subscription.
- Resend - your email address and licence key, passed on automatically when you subscribe, so it can email the key to you.
- Cloudflare - the technical details of your visits to this site, any email you send to [email protected] on its way to me, and Boops sessions on their way between computers (encrypted, so it cannot read them).
- Discord - feedback you send from Boop, in a private channel only I can read.
No one else gets your information from me. I do not sell or rent it, and I do not share it for advertising.
Keeping it safe
This site and everything Boop sends travel encrypted (HTTPS). Your card details go only to Stripe, which is certified to the card industry's highest security standard (PCI DSS Level 1), and never reach me. The accounts that hold your information are used only by me, protected by two-step sign-in, and looked at only to help you, run your subscription or give you a refund.
Your choices
You can ask for a copy of what I hold about you, or ask me to delete it, by writing to [email protected]. Some payment records have to be kept for tax reasons for a number of years.
